Photo Collages

Photo collages allow you to layer multiple images together to tell a story from lots of perspectives, share a variety of images without taking up too much space on the page, and break up the monotony of just having a single image at a time.
Hopefully you already know that including imagery throughout your articles is critical for improving content engagement—after all, stories with an image every 75-100 words get twice as many shares across social media. Sure, you could go the standard approach and place large images at regular intervals throughout the page, such as after each header. But, sometimes a collage of multiple images is more valuable for the content at hand—and delights your audience with something new to look at, keeping them interested and curious what’s coming next.
Consider making your collages feel more cohesive by choosing all photos from the same photographer or putting a similar filter on all the photos.
Use photo collages in instances where multiple photos would benefit the story you’re telling, instead of just stuffing a photo collage full of stock imagery to force more photos into your article.
Don’t make these too busy, unless that’s intentionally part of the design look you’re going for. Think carefully how you can best show the images at hand in a way that’s visually engaging but that also doesn’t overwhelm the viewer and that allows them to really see and take in what you’re showing them.
